About this deal

Height: Game of Thrones was one of the first television shows to employ Dolby Atmos on the Blu-ray format years ago when it re-released Seasons 1 and 2 with the collectable steelbooks and magnets within. As if eight seasons of Game of Thrones weren’t enough, the Complete Collection includes three discs with a whopping fifteen hours of special features. The wide dynamics of the Dolby Atmos track virtually puts you in the middle of everything happening onscreen and changes with each subsequent moment never sounding fake, unpolished or generic. That season, as included in the collection, has almost exponentially better detail than its initial 4K release.

We just started season and it’s a long way to the “Long Night” but I can already see the huge difference! Just scrolling through images for this article, I was reminded of how many incredible characters populated the Game of Thrones show throughout the years. Besides the reds and fiery moments the blue eyes of Sansa and the Whitewalkers in Season 7 are quite striking and rich too. So let’s take the slip cover off and as you can see from the one side angle it exposes the fact that there are a total of 9 different disc cases, which will look at momentarily in more detail.Yes, that’s 33 discs, and the consistent quality across all of them is something else and a wonder to behold. Like in Season 8 there were moments in the crypt for example that were overly deep and inky compared to the moments outside. Die 20 Euro, die das Produkt als Grossbritannien- Import billiger ist, zahlt man als Zollgebühren hinterher drauf, eine unschöne Überraschung. times even general detail levels, but I found the sixth and seventh seasons in particular to be quite good in both of those regards. Before we move onto unboxing things here I do want to provide you with URL links to each and every season of my coverage of this series (plus Sean Ferguson’s take on Season 1).

The dynamic range of this surround track feels like you’re climbing the highest peaks of Everest and want to shout it to the world. The first time you see Ned Stark’s outfit you’ll gape in awe at the amount of detail revealed with every strand. While the in-episode guides may have gone, there is still one strong interactive feature on the final disc that lets you explore the history, lore, Houses and geography of Westeros. This is a series where it feels like anything can happen… and that is a rare and wonderful thing indeed.Use the thumbs up and thumbs down icons to agree or disagree that the title is similar to Game of Thrones. But it’ll be worth the effort, because there have been few examples of Blu-ray living up to its promise the way it does here. There’s also a small episode guide within the box set here that is extremely handy in tackling what extras are found on what disc within each season. The first three seasons were shot in 10-bit 4:4:4 at 1920x1080 resolution using then prototype ARRI Alexa cameras (save for a bit of footage in the first episode that was actually shot on 35 mm film, left over from HBO’s original failed pilot). And before you start thinking you can just watch these in-episode features on the HD Blu-rays, if you didn’t notice earlier in the release details section, you don’t actually get the HD Blu-rays of Season One in the 4K BD package.

information on the missing supplements, as is the case with the In Episode Guides and some other interactive or PiP material. This is especially true for anyone able to watch the show in Dolby Vision, which does a lovely job of adding even more dynamism to the show’s many high-contrast shots, while also delivering a more controlled and consistent look to colors - especially skin tones during dark interior sequences. Watching House of the Dragon last night reminded me of how great it feels to spend time in Westeros. Fans who can take advantage of Dolby Vision will be especially pleased by its impact on that episode. And now it’s time to tackle my favorite subjects within a typical disc review, not (think of like a Borat not joke), the audio and video sections. One has to believe that will happen, but for now if you want to experience the complete series of Game of Thrones on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc, then you’re going have to pay to play here. Second, the Season Two Blu-ray available at Target had a bonus disc that added Invitation to the Set, Arya’s New Look, Art Direction, and Weapons featurettes.
