I mentioned earlier that I had no leaking but another important performance aspect for me is the draw activation performance. Thankfully I’ve had no issues, but faulty draw activation is something that can make a good device terrible in my eyes. Scores The biggest and most noticeable design change is the addition of an airflow control dial just under where the pod sits. This dial is similar to the one on the Nord 4, but there are a few changes that make it more MTL oriented. There’s a small OLED screen located on the front panel and a small button just below it. This screen tells you your wattage, coil resistance, puff count, and battery life with percent.I find this coil suits me best at the 15 watt suggested range. gives a good hit not too strong not too weak . Just right for me. This pod mod from Smok is the latest in a series of excellent pod mods. But is it good enough to carry on this line’s good name? The only problem with the screen is that it is not very bright. While it is ok indoors, it can be hard to read outside, especially on a really sunny day. Smok Novo 4 Pods Available in 3 different coil options, you can choose your preferred resistance depending on your vaping style: With the airflow open you get a tight MTL draw that is really nice at any wattage as it’s warm but not hot. Closing down the airflow makes the vapor much hotter and I found it most enjoyable to turn down the wattage when vaping with the airflow like this. No matter how you set it, if you’re a MTL vaper, you’re going to like the draw.

This is one of the best MTL pod mods a person can get. It puts out a steady amount of flavor, and it produces solid MTL and restricted lung hits. The other two significant differences are the airflow and the screen. The Novo X and 3 do not have airflow adjustment, but the latest model does. Additionally, the Novo 3 does not have a screen, and the Novo 4 does have a screen.There is not much leaking on this device, and the connection is pretty solid. It is not a magnetic connection, though. The pod connects to the battery via a small bump on the pod that connects to recesses inside the battery connection. That is a little odd because most pod mods have a magnetic connection. But it works, and that is the most important thing. The Smok Novo 4 Mini is a simplistic pod system that sadly doesn’t feel the most premium of pod systems. That said there’s nothing majorly wrong with the build quality, and at an affordable price, most will be happy with the quality that Smok delivers. Features The pod also features a side-fill port, which is a rubber plug with an ample-sized fill hole. It gets concealed when you connect the pod to the device. The dirty little secret of the industry is that most pod mods leak. As long as the connection is kept clean and as long as the leaking is not excessive, the pod mod should be fine. This device is not very bad when it comes to leaking. There is just a little bit of moisture on the connection, as stated above. I didn’t think that the Novo X was worth upgrading for if you already owned the Novo 3, but the airflow adjustment on the Novo 4 does seem like it’s worth the upgrade. The Novo 4 gets you everything that was good on previous Novo devices (flavor, reliability, portability), but with the added ability of adjusting your draw to your liking. Mouth to lung vapers will like what it has to offer. Overall Smok did a good job with the Novo 4.

Novo devices have always been good MTL devices and the Novo 4 is no different. Judging from the latest iterations, it looks like Smok has designated the Nords as their DL pod vapes and the Novos as their MTL pod vapes. So if you’re a MTL vaper, you’ll want to be looking at the Novo 4. The Smok LP1 coils have been designed for MTL (Mouth To Lung) vaping and are compatible with the Smok Pozz Pro, the Smok Novo 4, and the Novo 4 Mini. There are four versions of this coil available that deliver four unique experiences, giving you the option to find the one that suits you best. All versions can be paired with a wide range of e-liquids, compatible with any flavour, we recommend either a 50/50 or high PG e-liquid. As mentioned above the device is fancy-free, and can only be fired and activated via auto-draw. There are no fire buttons, or screen and therefore no power adjustment. This is because they are refillable, and the coils are replaceable. For the first time, a Novo device does not use replaceable pods with built in coils. Instead for the Novo 4 it uses a 2ml pod that takes removable and replaceable coils. In the box you get one LP1 0.8Ω mesh coil that is best at 12W and one 0.8Ω LP1 DC coil that is also rated for 12-25W.

That’s really where the Novo 4 Mini shines best in my opinion, as a compact easy-to-use MTL device that delivers good flavor. Using our fellow reviewer DeeDee’s DD-Drawometer scale of 1 to 10 (1 being tight – 10 being loose): The Smok Novo 4 looked like a decent mod straight out of the box, and it has some very impressive color schemes. The one our samplers used was red stabilizing. It felt solid and did not rattle or make any other strange noises suggestive of poor build quality. I was a little surprised that the Novo 4 only had an 800mAh battery considering it has a screen, so I was expecting the battery life to be a bit pants.Not the case so far, I’m getting around 400+ puffs between charges.I do notice the power drop off as the charge gets low but it is still useable.Charging time was pretty standard and rarely took over 45 minutes. ConclusionSadly, I didn’t have any other LP1 coils to hand to see how they performed in the Novo 4 Mini. Hopefully, they do a good job, and may even offer slightly more variation and perhaps a better DTL performance.
